Peter van den Berghe is working as a Senior Consultant and Cluster Leader at Catalyze. Peter and is team are responsible for assisting our clients in defining their Life Science research and development projects, writing project proposals and establishing competitive international public-private consortia.
At Catalyze, Peter leads a cluster of experienced and starting consultants. Peter uses his commercial and scientific knowledge to help innovative ideas into successful Life Science projects. Peter aims to build long-lasting relationships with his clients where he focusses both on the client’s projects and long-term business and research strategy. In this role, he likes to assist clients in defining the optimal project that fits with our client’s business/research strategy, finding the right partnerships, facilitate negotiations between consortium members and the funding agency and coordinating and organizing all requirements and formalities for a well-matched project application.
Peter studied Medical Biology at the Utrecht University, where he also conducted his PhD research at the department of Metabolic and endocrine disorders at the Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital. His research focused on the regulation of cellular copper transport, and the development of a potential novel therapeutic strategy for copper transporter defects in Wilson’s disease patients. Peter continued his academic career as a postdoctoral scientist at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, Glasgow, UK to study the role of the tumour micro-environment on cancer metastasis and invasion. Peter continued his career at Catalyze to use his skills, scientific expertise and curiosity to foster fruitful relationships between academia and industry and to potentiate ideas from clients into successful project applications in the field of Life Sciences and Biotechnology.
