Heike Schmidlin studied biochemistry at the University of Basel (Switzerland) and performed fundamental academic research in immunobiology / haematology at the Universities of Amsterdam and Utrecht.
Specifically, she investigated the transcriptional regulation of dendritic cell and B cell development and the kinase activity in hematologic malignancies. After obtaining a PhD degree from the University of Amsterdam she pursued her research in these fields as a postdoctoral scientist. Heike worked several years in the pharmaceutical industry, as a Clinical Operations Manager at Roche, coordinating and supporting local and international clinical trials, and as the medical representative for the fertility / endocrinology business unit, at Merck Serono. Here she was responsible for medical marketing, advisory and liaison activities for these therapeutic areas. In 2012 Heike moved to Cambridge, UK, where she was working as a Consultant Analyst for a technology research company consulting with clients in food & beverage and healthcare sectors. At Catalyze, she combines her scientific background and her commercial experience to help develop innovative fundamental and applied research in the life sciences.
